Raining again! and other stuff

Here is the lovely creek. Up again. This time, things are much worse down on the rivers and at the lakes. I'm thankful that we are not in immediate danger of flood waters, we may not be able to get out, but we are dry here--inside, anyway.

Here is Jesse in a rare pose. He usually shies away from the camera. He is sporting a new haircut. So are the other boys, but they were at school. He is engaged in one of his favorite activities, cutting. I keep cereal boxes just for that occasion.

The kids are enjoying watching the rain and anticipating playing in all the mud and water it will leave behind! Joy, joy, I'm so excited----NOT!

You can't take my Grandma's car!

The kids had been playing outside. Eva came and asked if she could go down to Grandma's house. I told her "no" because there was no one home. A little while later, Jesse came running into the house. (They had gone anyway...) He said, "Mom, come quick, some bad man is taking one of Grandma's cars!" I knew what was going on, Les (my father-in-law) had sold a couple of the old cars currently adorning the property to a neighbor. They are probably just for junk, but there is the explanation. I told him Grandpa knew all about it, but because Grandpa wasn't home, I had to go with him to "check it out".
I know the guy taking the car so we chatted a little while. The kids were still concerned about him taking the car and wanted to hang around, so I explained, again, the reasoning behind the transaction. Maybe they got it, maybe not. I think they wanted him to know they weren't happy with what was going on, I made them come home anyway and let the poor guy take the car!

I tell you, no one will get away with stealing anything around here! Not with the little sleuths on the job!

Some time finally....

It seemed that I was doing very well on my blog for a few days. That is only because I was stuck inside the house with all the rain and flooding. When the weather is nice, I like to spend my time out there with the kids.
A little about those said kids....Elias is doing well in school. We recently fixed up a bike for him and his riding skills are improving. He even gets back on when he falls. He is enjoying the freedom that riding a bike gives him.
Saul received a new-to-him bike today. I was out thrift shopping, gotta love that!, when I found a bike that was just his size for $4! Couldn't pass that one up. He was out enjoying it as soon as he had completed his homework today. But, he did ask me "...why are the rims a little rusty looking, did it come from the store that way?" Ha ha! Yes, of course it came from the second-hand store looking just like that. He didn't really care, it was just something to say.
Eva is doing well in her reading. She and I traded off reading books to one another today. That was rather fun. She read Brown Bear, Brown Bear and I read an assortment of more advanced books that she determined were too challenging for her just yet.
Jesse loves his "ABC movie" He loves that leapfrog Letter Factory--Thanks Janet for telling me about it. He know the sounds of all the letters, but not all their names. He is so fun to listen to, most of the time. When we watch movies, we just have to turn the volume up to drown out the "WHY??" from him. He is interested in everything and how it all works. He constantly asks Chad "Why you build house por doze people?" and "Why you build dis house por ut?" Too cute he is!
We also gave the boys haircuts yesterday. Elias looks about two years younger. He is just so cute. Saul doesn't look that different, but Jesse looks like a whole new kid! It is fun to have them all here and spend my life with them.

I've been tagged!

So I'm looking around for a good book, for those of you who don't know, our computer is in our library/office so I'm surrounded by books of every kind. I'm trying to be fair, but the first book I lay eyes that is within arms length is.....The New Book of Knowledge Vol.1-A. Quite boring, I know, but I could have stood up and found something more interesting, or spiritual even. That might be cheating, and I don' t do that..... so here is the sentence. Enjoy!

"It is most severe in cities, where people and industries are concentrated in large numbers."

If you didn't catch on from the sentence, it was an article on Air pollution. Very interesting.....

So now I'm going to tag/invite Michael, Mom, David, Karen, Sarah L. Have fun!
