So, here's the story, short but cute.
There was a small cat that was killed, I don't know how, laying on the road. Not a kitten, just a small cat. Our dog walked past it a number of times without taking notice, so I'm sure she wasn't the culprit--she would have brought it home as a souvenir had she done the deed. So, the kids were concerned about my possibly running over the poor thing. I told them I had been very careful to not run over it--mind you, I didn't really want to pick it up either!
So, after a few trips up and down the road--mainly taking the kids up to the bus in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon--Jesse says (yet again!) Mom, I think you ran over the cat again.~~now by this time, the cat has been moved into the middle of the road where the tires do not run, probably by the wind and rain we have been receiving and seems to have decomposed to just a small gray spot in the grass. I told him I was sure I had not run over it. Dialog:
Jesse: "Who is going to take care of the cat?"
Me: "Nature has taken care of it"
Jesse: "What did Sister Nature do with it?"
Me: "Well, nature has a way of taking care of things naturally"
Jesse: "Yes, but how did Sister Nature take care of it? where did she put it?"
Me: ~~long explanation about Heavenly Father and Jesus creating the earth and how things work, you know, so a three year old can grasp the concept with out asking too many more questions.....
Jesse: "Oh, I like Sister Nature."
To Jesse, everyone is sister somebody. He constantly talks about my friend(Rebecca)-Sister White this and that and her mom Sister Fox this and that. I guess he figured Nature must need a title of sister as well.
I love being able to be here with my kids as they learn and grow. The gospel is a wonderful thing. It is the rock upon which we can stand to teach our family what is right in this ever increasingly wicked world. There needs to be a haven and that must be our homes. I love seeing my children being so tender to some of Our Lord's smallest creations. It is an important trait to have.
I don't know what brought that on.....but I am so thankful today for the great blessing of family that I have been given. They are so important to me.
